In this program, students will learn how to identify and properly use hand tools, power tools, and general welding shop equipment, how to set up and operate Stick, TIG, MIG, and FCAW welding equipment, select electrodes, weld in various positions, and also oxyacetylene and plasma cutting. Students will learn how to weld a pad of beads, fillet welds, and groove welds in various positions leading to an American Welding Society certification. Students will also be introduced to sheet metal fabrication and light structural fabrication through project-based learning.
This program includes or prepares for the following credentials: ACT National Career Readiness Certificate; American Welding Society - Flux Core Arc Welding - Plate, Gas Metal Arc Welding - Plate, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding - Plate, Shielded Metal Arc Welding - Plate.

For students from outside of the district and adults who are not enrolled in high school, local scholarships and other funding sources may be available.
